Magnet technical resources.

Find practical answers about NdFeB materials, geometry and measurement, then organize your requirements with an inquiry checklist.

Technical guides

Start with the decision you need to make, then bring the relevant details into your inquiry.

Material basics

  • What is NdFeB?

NdFeB is the common name for neodymium–iron–boron permanent magnet materials. Nd₂Fe₁₄B identifies the main magnetic phase; a finished magnet can contain other phases, additions or a binder.

  • Neodymium magnet grades explained

The number in N35 or N52 refers to a magnetic material grade. It does not specify the pull force of a finished part, and the temperature suffix needs application context.

  • NdFeB magnet properties: what the numbers mean

Br, HcB, HcJ and BHmax describe different points or features of a material’s magnetic behaviour. None of them alone is a finished magnet’s holding-force rating.

  • Sintered vs bonded NdFeB magnets

Sintered and bonded NdFeB are different material systems. Specify the forming route, magnetic powder, binder and orientation before comparing properties or geometry.

Temperature and environment

  • Neodymium magnet temperature limits

A temperature rating is a selection guideline for a material and its conditions. The usable limit belongs to the assembled magnetic circuit and its required performance.

  • NdFeB Curie temperature vs working temperature

Curie temperature marks the loss of ferromagnetic order. A magnet can already suffer an unacceptable or permanent performance loss well below that point.

  • Choosing a neodymium magnet coating

Choose a coating for the environment and assembly, then specify how it will be evaluated. A shiny surface or a coating name alone does not establish corrosion life.

  • Handling and storing neodymium magnets

Strong magnets can move suddenly, trap fingers and break into sharp fragments. Plan the handling method before opening the package, and keep loose magnets away from children.

Dimensions and magnetic performance

Compare materials

  • Neodymium vs ferrite magnets

NdFeB is attractive when the magnetic function must fit a small space. Ferrite can be a sensible choice when more volume is available and material cost or corrosion exposure matters.

  • NdFeB vs SmCo magnets

Compare the field available at the operating point, especially when heat and opposing fields act together. SmCo’s temperature behaviour can outweigh NdFeB’s room-temperature energy advantage.

  • Neodymium vs Alnico magnets

Alnico can combine substantial remanence with relatively low coercivity. That makes magnetic-circuit design central to a comparison with NdFeB.

These plain text checklists are preparation and discussion aids. Product specifications, supplier documents and acceptance requirements still need to be confirmed for an order.

An incomplete specification can still start a conversation. Identify open questions instead of choosing a grade, coating or performance value without a basis.

Already have a drawing?

Include the file reference, revision and units in the brief. Attach the drawing in your email app when you send it.

Comparing quotations?

Use the same geometry, material, finish, quantities, packaging and acceptance requirements in each request.
